I'm looking for something to play along to (that has tampura and tabla) but I'm not having much luck finding anything.

I have found:

Taalpulse - not bad but seems to have a quiet output (i only have laptop speakers to play through)
Naad - looks good but can't be tuned to C# for some reason.

Are there any others? I know there is Riyazstudio but I'm looking for something that is free.

Do you have an iphone or ipod touch? I know that there is a tabla/tanpura app for those devices. It's not free, but it is affordable. I think it goes for about $30 USD.

The free ones suck.
Really suck.

Spend a couple of bucks and get a good one.
You wont regret it.
I use iTablaPro on my iPhone.

No i don't have an iphone or ipod unfortunately

I might try to add some loops to a sequencer, see what that's like.

iTablaPro is great... but I also use RiyazStudio (with iTanpura for tanpura)... the tabla sounds are great through good speakers...

Please try Vishwamohini's utility for Riyaz which is free and good enough for practice sessions.
There are many Taals with variations, also you can adjust tempo and scale, volume of Daya, Baya individually.
